About the project
The project aimed to optimize the content production workflows of a news channel operating in a fast-paced 24/7 environment. The primary goal was to automate key production processes, such as voice-over creation, video editing, and graphic insertion, to deliver timely and high-quality content while minimizing manual intervention. By integrating existing systems like Mimir, the project focused on streamlining video asset management and reducing production costs.
The challenge
Faced with the challenge of meeting the rapid demands of the 24/7 news cycle due to time-consuming manual processes, the customer sought to accelerate their workflows to deliver timely content amid high daily volumes. These inefficiencies led to delays in content delivery and increased operational costs, affecting their ability to stay competitive in a fast-paced news environment.
A key issue was integrating with their media asset management (MAM) system, Mimir, which managed vast amounts of video content and metadata but was hindered by data inefficiencies and manual workflows between applications. The customer needed a solution that could automate voice-over creation, video editing, highlight generation, and graphic insertion, minimizing human intervention. Seamless integration with Mimir and other existing systems was essential to maintaining their competitive edge in delivering high-quality news.
The solution
qibb automated the entire voice-over creation process, from receiving video clips to generating highlights and adding graphics. This solution was meticulously designed to integrate with the customer's existing systems, including Mimir.
Key features included TwelveLabs for advanced video detection, which identified key moments within clips for highlights, and OpenAI’s GPT-4 for generating accurate, contextually relevant voice-over text. Mimir was used for video editing and metadata management, streamlining the content preparation process. The workflow involved ingesting video data from agencies, generating AI-driven highlights, creating voice-over text, and automating video editing with integrated graphics (GFX) insertion. Initial challenges included configuring the GFX API and ensuring seamless integration with Mimir. These issues were resolved through custom API setups and thorough testing, resulting in a robust integration.
Integration with Mimir enabled efficient asset and metadata management, reducing manual errors and ensuring quick content retrieval. This was crucial for the customer’s fast-paced environment, where delays could impact timely news delivery. By addressing the technical challenges of integration and automation, the customer improved operational efficiency, maintained high content quality, and met the growing demands of its audience.
